Clif Family Foundation continues to provide funding support to IWBA

Idaho Walk Bike Alliance is honored to receive continued grant funding from Clif Family Foundation to help fund our programs for kids and families in Idaho. Clif Family Foundation has generously been providing grant funding to Idaho Walk Bike Alliance since 2017. This year’s grant funding helped IWBA introduce our Signature HUMAN POWERED RODEO programs to Rural Communities across Idaho.

IWBA will recognize our longtime relationship with Clif Family Foundation by featuring the Clif Family Foundation logo on water bottles that we provide to kids during our events. We will also showcase Clif Family Foundation on our staff t-shirts that we wear when we are hosting Safe Routes to Schools and Human Powered Rodeo events.

Idaho Walk Bike Alliance and Southeast Idaho Safe Routes to School hosted several Human-Powered Rodeo events and Safety Lessons in Idaho and were honored to be able to serve over 500 kids and families to open the Summer season.

Wendell Safe Routes To Schools Coordinator Charmane Davis-Soloaga hosted a pair of Summer Bike Rodeos for nearly 150 kids and families in Wendell.

Charmane taught the summer school classes about basic bike safety and then let them ride through the course and helped students as needed. She also monitored the course and introduced lesson plans for the rules of the road for 60 students in kindergarten to middle school in Wendell, Idaho in late May and another 60 students in early June. Charmane is a 1st grade teacher for the elementary school in Wendell.

Executive Director – “Cowboy” Ted Hallisey visited with over represented Southeast Idaho Safe Routes to Schools and hosted IWBA’s new SIGNATURE events during weekly Summer Reading Programs for over 150 kids during two events in Grace, Idaho in June and hosted programs for over 200 kids during the Summer Reading in Bancroft Idaho in June and July. Human-Powered Rodeo features events that are normally held on horseback at actual rodeos. Kids rode stick horses and scooters in four events – barrel racing – pole bending – keyhole race – flag race. Cowboy Ted also taught kids how to rope the metal and fiberglass bull during the 5 events.

Hallisey also hosted Safe Routes to Schools info and Human Powered Rodeo programs for over 70 kids and 25 parents during the final day of the Summer After-School Program at Harwood Elementary School in Rigby, Idaho on June 25th.

Buhl Safe Routes to Schools Coordinator Tenecia Cooper hosted a summer Bike Rodeo for 31 kids and 5 teachers in Buhl on July 14. Tenecia also hosted safety lessons after the rodeo and taught kids about the importance of safety at night and presented safety light kits to each students to place on their helmet or bike. She also outlines the importance of signaling when turning and about the importance of making eye contact with drivers before moving their bike in front of drivers. Tenecia and Charmane hosted a Bike Rodeo last year during Sagebrush Days in Buhl and Tenecia is scheduled to host another bike Rodeo at Sagebrush Days in 2027.

Cooper, Hallisey and Soloaga are each completing their second year as coordinators for the Safe Routes to Schools programs coordinated by Idaho Walk Bike Alliance.    

Hi! I’m Tenecia Cooper, a first-grade teacher in Buhl, Idaho, and a member of the Idaho Walk Bike Alliance’s Bike Rodeo Program. I love helping children build confidence, develop safe bicycling skills, and discover how much fun it is to be active outdoors. Through hands-on instruction and community events, I enjoy making bicycle safety engaging for kids and families alike.

Outside of work, I love staying active and spending time with my two children, Sam (10) and Natalie (7). They are my favorite adventure buddies, whether we’re riding bikes, exploring outside, or trying something new together. I believe some of life’s best lessons are learned through adventure, encouragement, and having fun along the way.
