Katie Mathias, M.Ed., J.D

from Boise, ID

Biography

Katie Mathias is the Deputy to the Associate Dean for Educator Preparation and Undergraduate Programs at Boise State University, where she manages staff and program operations, implementing strategic initiatives, and coordinates all activities related to student support, accreditation, and federal reporting. She serves as a representative for four-year public educator preparation programs on Idaho’s Professional Standards Commission, a role she previously coordinated at the Idaho Department of Education.

With extensive K-12 experience, Katie has taught in both public and independent schools and supported charter school board relations across more than 30 states. In addition to her institutional work, Katie serves the broader education community; she has been recognized for public service and civic engagement, including appointment as a commissioner with Serve Idaho, where she contributes to community service and volunteerism efforts statewide.

A proud AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) alum, she served in Class 9 in the Southeastern Region, an experience that deepened her commitment to public service. Originally from New Hampshire and raised in New Jersey, Katie now resides in Boise with her partner, Chris, and their two children. She holds both a Master’s in Education and a Juris Doctorate.

Joe Groberg

from Idaho Falls, ID

Biography

Joseph H Groberg lives in Idaho Falls, where he has emphasized the importance of walkable, bikeable urban pathways, the extension and improvement of the city’s green belt along the Snake River, and non-motorized access to public spaces throughout the city and surrounding areas.  He supports the development of safe pathways throughout the state.

Joe received a BA from Brigham Young University in economics. JD from the University of Chicago, Master of Arts and Liberal Studies from Dartmouth College.  He is a member of the Colorado and Idaho state bars, and served on the Idaho Falls city council for 14 years.

Bryce Blankenship

from Moscow, ID

Biography

Bryce Blankenship is passionate about community, connection, and creative action — focusing on getting people together to learn, explore, and advocate.He is currently a Senior Instructor teaching Philosophy at The University of Idaho in Moscow and also is serving on the Moscow City Council.

He is passionate about his work both as an educator and as an elected official — being able to work with diverse populations carrying varying viewpoints all sharing in community together. When not wearing one of his ‘professional’ hats (he’s also a bartender, too!) you can find him out on the trails on Moscow Mountain, in the saddle of his Peugeot riding the streets and backroads of the Palouse, or sipping a beverage with good folks. He’s looking forward to serving on the IWBA Board in order to continue to foster advocacy in our Great State.

Mark Premble, Board Member

Mark Pemble

from Caldwell, ID

Biography

Mark Pemble is a native Idahoan and has explored almost every city in Idaho on his skateboard and bicycle.

Mark serves as the president of the Friends of the Caldwell Library, Co-President of the Caldwell Young Professionals, Secretary of the Caldwell Train Depot, and is on the board of MING studios.

Mark has guided regional bicycle and pedestrian path planning for nearly 15 years. Mark also holds the record as the first person to bike the entire Boise River Greenbelt system from start to finish in one day.

Jessica McCulloch

from Bancroft, ID

Biography

Jessica McCulloch has been teaching Kindergarten and Preschool at North Gem School District for six years. Jessica lives in a rural community in Caribou County in Idaho and is passionate about delivering Walk, Bike, and Roll programs and resources to Rural Kids, Families and Communities.

She is also in charge of the summer reading program for North Gem Elementary. This includes planning activities, prizes for incentives to help promote reading and learning over the summer months, and promoting fun ways to learn and grow.

Jessica graduated from Utah State University and has four children with her wonderful husband. Their whole family love to walk and bike around town and in nearby areas, often inviting others to enjoy the trails.
