Helpers Needed to Staff a Water Station and Conduct Bike Sweeps
We are looking for helpers to staff a water station and conduct bike sweeps at the City of Trees Marathon and Half Marathon taking place in Boise on Sunday, October 8. The marathon and half marathon race routes are on the Boise Greenbelt so it is the perfect location for riding your bike to your volunteer post.
We are a benefactor of the race so giving your time supports active transportation in Idaho.
See below for volunteer details and sign up now.
Water Station #3 (3-5 volunteers)
Location: 48th St. & Greenbelt near Mystic Cove Park (southside of Greenbelt prior to turnaround at mile 6.5)
Time: 8:15 to 11:30 a.m.
Directions: Chinden Blvd. to E. 46th St. – E. 46th St. to N. Adams – N. Adams to E. 48th St. Greenbelt entrance at Mystic Cove Park
Note: This water station services miles 6 and 7 of the marathon and half marathon. Runners will use this station going both ways. Since the turnaround is very close to the water station, we will set up on the side of the Greenbelt to limit congestion.
Location: will follow runners along the half course and report to the finish line (Parkcenter Park) when last runner on the half course is to the Orange Bridge at Parkcenter
Time: 9:30 to 11:45 a.m.
Note: There will be full marathoners that start an hour later and may be on course moving through and not finishing…it will also be good to know from the half sweeper what the numbers look like.
Location: will follow runners along the full course focusing on the second half of the Greenbelt out towards Lucky Peak
Time: 11:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m.
Note: The key here will be in determining on a regular basis how many runners are out and their approximate mile locations. Support will need to follow/inform of the last runners, likely right up to 3:00, although there will be very few runners left out, with reporting to the finish line at Parkcenter Park.
