Mark your calendars for one full day of transportation conversations via Zoom on Wednesday October 13. We will open the Conference with Beth Osborne of Transportation For America. Beth will share with us what to expect in the newest federal transportation bill and how it will impact your community. As usual, we will feature the Legislative Panel in the morning to discuss what to expect in the 2022 session. Many other excellent presenters including a robust discussion on the Safe Systems Approach and what that looks like on the ground. Plus some outdoor activities. We hope to see you there!
Beth Osborne is the Director of Transportation for America, a national nonprofit seeking a transportation system that safely, affordably and conveniently connects people of all means and ability to jobs, services, and opportunity through multiple modes of travel. She was previously at the U.S. Department of Transportation, where she served as the Acting Assistant Secretary for Transportation Policy, managing the TIGER Discretionary Grant program, the Secretary’s livability initiative, and the development of policy proposals for the department.
Leah Shahum is the founder and director of the Vision Zero Network, a national campaign supporting communities working toward Vision Zero — zero traffic fatalities and severe injuries among all road users. The Network helps communities develop and share best practices for safe mobility for all.
As a German Marshall Fund Fellow, Leah researched Vision Zero strategies in Sweden, Germany and the Netherlands. Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of the 10,000-member San Francisco Bicycle Coalition, which promotes bicycling for everyday transportation. Leah formerly served on the Boards of Directors of the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District and the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency.
